Danny Kim

Danny C. Kim
Vice President for Administration and Finance CFO

Danny C. Kim, Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer, joined Cal State Fullerton in January 2014 after spending 23 years in the University of California system. He previously held the position of associate vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of California, Riverside. Prior to student affairs, he served in the Office of Academic Planning and Budget at UCR and at UCLA.

Mr. Kim's expertise and experience span across all sectors of the university, from academic resource planning to capital programs. He enjoys working with student leaders and is a strong advocate for students and their initiatives. Before entering higher education administration, Mr. Kim taught high school math in the Los Angeles Unified School District and at a community college in Los Angeles.

Mr. Kim holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics/systems science from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.

Welson Badal Portrait

Welson Badal
Senior Director of Administrative Systems

Mr. Welson Badal serves as the Senior Director for Administrative Systems. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and oversight to the Administrative Systems department, the primary IT support for the Division of Administration and Finance and the Division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion. Mr. Badal is responsible for guiding the development, support, and implementation of innovative technology and specialized administrative and enterprise systems.

Mr. Badal has more than 30 years of CSU experience, working at both Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Over the years, he has collaborated with department heads in assessing operation needs to find new technology solutions to streamline functions, improve employee efficiencies, and increase customer service to the campus community. Some of the projects and specialized systems include: Facilities Link, Energy Enterprise Management System, Parking Management System, Parking Counter System and App, Campus Security Cameras, License Plate Recognition (LPR), Records Integrated Management System (RIMS), Common Finance System (CFS), and the Classification Compensation Action Request System (CCAR).

Mr. Badal serves as a senior leadership team member to both the Vice President for Administration and Finance/CFO and the Vice President for Information Technology/CIO.

Lupe Briseno

Lupe Briseño
Executive Assistant to the Vice President

Ms. Lupe Briseño came to the Vice President's office in 2011 with 21 years of campus experience providing high level administrative, operational support and exceptional customer service in higher education. She joined Cal State Fullerton in December of 1990 working in Admissions & Records. She later began her extensive career in Parking & Transportation Services where she began as a Parking Assistant and fifteen years later concluded as the Transportation Programs Manager. In 2006 she was promoted to the President's division as Confidential Assistant to the Director of Internal Audit, where she served for five years. In her current role as Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, she provides direct support to Vice President Kim and the Vice President's Senior Leadership Team.

Dennis DeMaio

Dennis DeMaio
Chief of Police

Dennis J. DeMaio joined the California State University, Fullerton Police Department as Chief of Police in January 2012 with more than 38 years of law enforcement experience. Chief DeMaio began his career with the Clairton Police Department in Clairton, Pennsylvania. He later joined the Orange County Sheriff's Department where he served for 26 years advancing through the ranks to Division Commander and Chief of Airport Operations at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California.

Chief DeMaio holds a Bachelor's Degree in Administration of Justice from the University of Pittsburgh as well as an Associate's Degree in Social Science from the Community College of Allegheny County. Chief DeMaio served in the United States Marine Corps where he earned the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal and the Unit Citation Medal. He maintains his Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Top Security Clearance and Chief DeMaio is also an active member of various law enforcement associations.

Laurinda Fuller

Laurinda Fuller
Director of Internal Audit

Ms. Laurinda L. Fuller, CIA, CFE, Director of Internal Audit, joined Cal State Fullerton in February 2014. Ms. Fuller brings more than 25 years of experience in professional auditing and compliance in both public and private sector organizations, as well as 12 years of service in the California State University system. Most recently she served as the director for procurement and financial services at CSU Long Beach.

In her current position, she is responsible for the planning, development and execution of the University's internal audit plan; acts as the liaison for audits conducted by external auditors, including audits from the State Auditor, CSU Chancellor's Office and other governmental agencies; and in consultation with division heads will perform periodic risk assessments of the university's operations.

Ms. Fuller is a CIA and CFE and is a member of the respective organizations, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners she is also a member of the Association of College and University Auditors. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration, major in finance, from Iowa State University.

Laleh Graylee

Laleh Graylee
Assistant Vice President for Resource Planning and Analysis

Ms. Laleh Graylee serves as the Assistant Vice President for Resource Planning and Analysis. In this role, she oversees the Resource Planning, Analysis and Budget Administration responsibilities and serves as the University Budget Officer.

Ms. Graylee has a combined 27 years of CSU experience working at both the systemwide and campus level. She joined the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance in 2004 where she assumed the role of Director of Analytics and Decision Support. Her responsibilities included providing financial planning and business analysis as well as Division Budget and Financial Management oversight.

In her previous role, Ms. Graylee served as the Director of Systemwide Standards and Financial Reporting at the CSU Office of the Chancellor for over eight years. Her responsibilities included defining systemwide accounting and reporting standards and producing official systemwide financial statements/reports on behalf of all 23 campuses for accountability reporting to CSU Executive Management, State Controller's Office, Department of Finance, Federal Government, and internal and external auditors. She was also responsible for the coordination of systemwide GAAP audits, consolidation of 120 GASB and FASB legal entities of the California State University and preparation of the CSU Consolidated GAAP financial statements.

One of her most prominent accomplishments in her systemwide role was the design and implementation of 'FIRMS', CSU's uniform accounting and reporting system.

Ms. Graylee holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Dr. Ali Izadian

Dr. Ali Izadian
Associate Vice President for Capital Programs & Facilities Management

Dr. Ali Izadian joined Cal State Fullerton as the Associate Vice President for Capital Programs & Facilities Management in August 2016. In this role, he oversees almost 5 million square feet of facilities located on 235 acres. His responsibilities include the planning, design and construction, maintenance and operation of the campus and he leads a staff of almost 250 employees with a total operating budget of $25 million.

Dr. Izadian comes to us with over 25 years of experience working in public municipalities and higher education organizations, including three CSU campuses. In his prior role, he served as the Associate Vice President for Facilities Services and as the Interim Vice President for Administration at Sacramento State University. As the Associate Vice President, he oversaw Facilities Services, a diverse organization with approximately 200 employees, consisting of the following functional units: Planning, Design and Construction, Sustainability & Plan Operations, Facility Operations, and Administrative Services. Dr. Izadian also served as a part-time faculty member, teaching graduate level courses, at both Cal State Northridge and Cal State Sacramento.

Dr. Izadian earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.P.A from the University of Colorado, and his Ph.D. in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University.

Frank Mumford

Frank Mumford
Executive Director of Auxiliary Services Corporation

Mr. Frank Mumford started his tenure as Executive Director of ASC in 2011. As Executive Director, he oversees a corporation with more than 750 employees and annual revenues in excess of $60 million per year. Mr. Mumford joined the ASC in 2007 as its Chief Fiscal Officer, bringing over 30 years of experience in finance and administration.

Prior to joining the ASC, Mr. Mumford held similar administrative positions at the Cal Poly Corporation in San Luis Obispo for eight years. Before becoming involved with CSU auxiliaries, he was the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Director of Budget Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Since graduating from Eastern Illinois University, he has held a number of progressively responsible management positions with universities and private sector firms.

Mr. Mumford has been an active member of statewide, regional and national higher education associations. He has held senior positions in the CSU Auxiliary Organizations Association, the California State University Risk Management Authority and the Western region of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS). He has served as President of NACAS, is currently the President of NACAS Education Foundation and is the 2012 recipient of their Newton Award for Distinguished Service.

Mr. Nelson Nagai joined Cal State Fullerton as the Director of Contracts and Procurement in March 2016. He is responsible for $100M annual spend in contracts, procurement and ebusiness. The group issues over 2,000 contracts and 1,800 purchase orders while managing 30,000 PCard transactions.

Prior to CSUF, he spent 12 years as the Procurement Director at Northrop Grumman. Mr. Nagai spent the previous 19 years of his career with Boeing/McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach where he held progressively responsible management positions. He started his career as an Engineer with over 10 years at McDonnell Douglas, Northrop, and Martin Marietta.

Mr. Nagai is Six Sigma Green Belt certified and has taught Information Systems and Project Management at the University of Phoenix.

Originally from Hawaii, Mr. Nagai earned a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering from Purdue University, a master's degree in engineering management from West Coast University, and a master's degree in systems architecture and engineering from USC.

May Wong
Interim Chief of Operations

Ms. May Wong serves as the Interim Chief of Operations (COO), overseeing operational and strategic initiatives for the division and assisting the Vice President in fulfilling a wide variety of administrative duties. In addition, Ms. Wong provides oversight and leadership for the University's Parking & Transportation Services and Facilities Use program.

Ms. Wong joined Cal State Fullerton in 2000. During her tenure at CSUF, she has managed the Accounts Payable and Payroll Services Departments and more recently, served as the Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice President of Financial Services. Prior to CSUF, Ms. Wong spent 20 years serving in various management roles providing leadership in business operations at the Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros, Twentieth Century Fox and the Los Angeles Times.

Ms. Wong holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles.

Steven Yim

Steven Yim

Mr. Steven Yim has served as University Controller since January 2008, at Cal State Fullerton. In this capacity, he provides leadership and management of the daily operations of the University's accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable and travel operations, student financial services, tax compliance and financial systems functions. Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Yim served as the University's Director of Internal Controls with responsibilities for establishing and overseeing the University's internal control plan.

From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Yim worked eight years as an auditor at both the Chancellor's Office and Cal State Los Angeles, including two years as a Director of Internal Audit. In these roles, he conducted operational audits and process reviews for the purpose of improving campus business operations and internal controls as well as special investigations into fraudulent activity.

Mr. Yim holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He is Certified Public Accountant in the State of California and also has a designation as a Certified Internal Auditor.
